Market East Station is a train station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It's located in the Market East neighborhood, and its official address is 12th and Filbert streets. This station is part of the SEPTA Regional Rail system, which helps people travel around the city and its nearby areas.
Market East Station is one of three main train stations in downtown Philadelphia. It's the one located furthest to the east. The station is part of a special underground tunnel system called the Center City Commuter Connection. This connection helps trains travel smoothly through the city center.
The station first opened in November 1984. It took the place of an older train station called the Reading Terminal, which closed just before Market East Station opened. Building Market East Station cost about $75 million. SEPTA, the public transportation agency, owns and takes care of the station.
