Jehane Benoît OC (born March 21, 1904 – died November 24, 1987) was a famous Canadian chef, writer, and TV personality. She taught many Canadians how to cook delicious meals. She was known for her cooking schools, her many cookbooks, and her appearances on television.
Jehane Benoît was born into a wealthy family in Westmount, Quebec. Her father and grandfather loved food, which likely inspired her. She studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and at the famous Le Cordon Bleu cooking school.
After her studies, she opened her own cooking school in Montreal. It was called Fumet de la Vieille France. In 1935, she also started one of Canada's first vegetarian restaurants, named "The Salad Bar."

Madame Benoît's Culinary Journey
Jehane Benoît became very well-known as "Madame Benoît." She wrote 30 books about cooking during her career. One of her most famous books was the Encyclopedia of Canadian Cuisine.
She was also a regular guest on the CBC Television show Take 30. Later, she became a big supporter of microwave cooking. She wrote several books about it and even appeared in TV commercials for Panasonic microwaves.
