Jemma Mi Mi (born on March 4, 1996) is an Australian netball player. Netball is a fast-paced team sport, a bit like basketball, where players try to score by shooting a ball through a hoop. Jemma played in Australia's top netball league, the Suncorp Super Netball. She was a key player for the Queensland Firebirds team for six seasons. Her time with the Firebirds ended after the 2022 Suncorp Super Netball season.
Jemma Mi Mi's Netball Journey
Jemma Mi Mi grew up loving sports. She went to Carmel College in Thornlands for her high school years. Before becoming a professional netball player, Jemma was very good at other sports too. She played high-level touch rugby, which is a version of rugby without tackles.
Starting Her Professional Career
Jemma's talent in netball was clear from a young age. She played for the Queensland under-21 netball team. She also represented Australia as a reserve player at the Netball World Youth Cup. This shows she was one of the best young players in the country.
In late 2016, Jemma signed with the Queensland Firebirds. This team is based in Brisbane. She made her first appearance for the Firebirds in 2017. This is called her "debut." In her first two seasons with the team, she played in 11 out of 29 matches.
Life Off the Court
Jemma Mi Mi is not just a netball star; she also focuses on her education and helping others. She recently finished her university degree. She earned a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology. This degree teaches people how to use exercise to help others stay healthy or recover from injuries.
After her netball career, Jemma has been working with an organization called Body Smart Health. She also does important ambassador work with the Diamond Spirit Program. This program helps young Indigenous girls through sport and education. Jemma uses her experience as an athlete to inspire and guide them.
