Early life
Jennifer Esposito was born in Brooklyn, New York City. Her family is of Italian descent. She grew up on Staten Island in a neighborhood called Bulls Head. She finished high school at Moore Catholic High School.
Career
Esposito started her TV career on Law & Order in 1996. She then joined the cast of Spin City for two seasons. She also appeared in the movie I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
One of her most famous roles was as "Ruby" in Spike Lee's movie Summer of Sam in 1999. This film was set during the late 1970s. She also acted in Dracula 2000 and The Master of Disguise. In 2004, she was in the comedy Taxi.
Jennifer Esposito also played Ria in the Academy Award-winning film Crash. In this movie, she was the partner and love interest of Don Cheadle's character.
Television roles
Esposito has made guest appearances on several TV shows. These include Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Rescue Me. She was a regular cast member on Related and Samantha Who?.
In 2010, Esposito joined the CBS drama Blue Bloods. She played Detective Jackie Curatola. She was the partner of Detective Danny Reagan, played by Donnie Wahlberg.

In 2013, Jennifer Esposito opened Jennifer's Way Bakery in Manhattan. This bakery only serves food that is safe for people with celiac disease. All the food is gluten-free.
In 2014, she joined the NBC series Taxi Brooklyn. On April 22, 2014, she published her first book, Jennifer's Way. The book describes her personal struggles with celiac disease. It explains her journey before and after she was diagnosed. The book became a The New York Times Best Seller.
In 2015, Esposito played Calista Raines in the ABC drama series Mistresses. She also appeared in the Showtime series The Affair.
In 2016, Esposito joined the cast of NCIS. She played Special Agent Alexandra "Alex" Quinn. The show's executive producer, Gary Glasberg, was very happy to have her join the team. However, it was announced in June 2017 that she would only be on the show for one season.

Jennifer Esposito married actor Bradley Cooper on December 30, 2006. They divorced in November 2007.
In May 2014, Esposito announced her engagement to British model Louis Dowler. They got married on November 16, 2014, in New York City. In March 2016, it was reported that they had filed for divorce.
In 2020, Esposito married Jesper Vesterstrøm.
In October 2011, Esposito shared that she had celiac disease. This is a condition where eating gluten damages the small intestine.
