Jennifer Rodriguez (born June 8, 1976) is an amazing Cuban-American speed skater. She is famous for winning two bronze medals at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. People sometimes call her Miami Ice or J-Rod.

Jennifer started her sports journey on roller skates. She was an artistic roller skater and won many national championships. She even placed second and third at world championships! Later, she switched to inline speed skating and became a world champion in 1993. Her coach for inline speed skating was Bob Manning.

From Roller Skates to Ice Skates

In 1996, Jennifer decided to try something new. She wanted to skate on ice! Her goal was to make it to the Olympic team. This was a big change, but it worked out wonderfully for her.

Jennifer's former husband, K. C. Boutiette, was also a speed skater. He was one of the first to switch from inline skating to ice skating. He inspired Jennifer to make the same exciting move.

Olympic Dreams Come True

Jennifer's hard work paid off. She competed in four Winter Olympics! She was part of the US team in 1998, 2002, 2006, and 2010 Winter Olympics.

Her biggest success came at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. There, she won two bronze medals. She earned one bronze medal in the 1000-meter race. She also won another bronze in the 1500-meter race. These wins made her a true Olympic hero!
