Jeramey Anderson's Early Life and School
Jeramey Anderson was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He was born on December 6, 1991. He went to Moss Point High School and graduated from there.
College Education
Anderson studied criminal justice at Pearl River Community College. He earned an associate degree there. He was able to attend college because he received a scholarship for playing soccer. After that, he went to Tulane University. He earned his bachelor's degree in homeland security from Tulane.
Jeramey Anderson's Career
When Jeramey Anderson was 16 years old, he started a special group. This group was a nonprofit organization. Its goal was to help and guide young men. In 2015, he was recognized as an "Early Riser" at the BET Honors event.
He currently works as a Co-Chair for the Mississippi Future Caucus. He shares this role with another representative, Shane Barnett.
Serving in the Mississippi House of Representatives
In 2013, Jeramey Anderson ran in a special election. This election was to choose a new representative for the 110th district. He finished first in the first round of voting.
Runoff Election and Becoming a Representative
After the first election, he faced Aneice Liddell in a second election. This second election is called a runoff election. It happens when no one wins more than half the votes in the first round. Anderson won the runoff election. He received 59% of the votes, while Liddell received 41%.
He was sworn into office on his 22nd birthday. This made him the youngest person serving in the Mississippi Legislature at that time.
Re-election and Other Campaigns
Anderson ran for re-election in 2015 as a Democrat. He won and continued to serve. In 2017, he decided to run for a different position. He ran for the 4th Congressional District seat in the U.S. Congress.
He won the Democratic primary election in June 2018 without anyone running against him. In the main election in November 2018, he ran against Steven Palazzo. Palazzo was a Republican who had been in office for four terms. Anderson also faced Lajena Sheets from the Reform Party. Anderson lost this election to Palazzo.
In November 2020, Anderson announced he would run for mayor of Moss Point. This election took place in 2021. He lost in the primary election to Billy Knight.
