Jeramey Anderson, born on December 6, 1991, is a politician in the United States. He serves in the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing the 110th district. When he was first elected in 2013, he made history. He became the youngest African-American person ever elected to a state legislature in the U.S.

Early Life and Education
Jeramey Anderson grew up in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He went to Moss Point High School. After high school, he studied criminal justice at Pearl River Community College. He even played soccer there with a scholarship! Later, he went to Tulane University. There, he earned a degree in homeland security.

Jeramey Anderson started helping others at a young age. When he was just 16, he created a group called Purple Knights of America. This group is a non-profit, meaning it helps people without making money. It was made to guide and support boys aged 11 to 18.
Anderson is also the founder and CEO of NexiWorks. This company helps businesses with their online marketing. It is based in Mississippi.
Serving in the Mississippi House
On November 5, 2013, Jeramey Anderson ran in a special election. He was trying to win a seat in the Mississippi House of Representatives. The seat was open because the previous representative, Billy Broomfield, became the mayor of Moss Point.
Anderson won the first round of the election. Then, he ran against Aneice Liddell, a former mayor of Moss Point. Both Anderson and Liddell ran as independent candidates. Anderson won the runoff election. He was sworn into office on his 22nd birthday.
Anderson has given speeches at many high school and college graduations. In 2015, he was honored by BET as a "Young Riser" at the BET Honors event.
In 2015, Anderson ran for reelection as a Democrat and won. In 2017, he decided to run for a seat in the U.S. Congress. He won the Democratic primary election for Mississippi's 4th congressional district. In the main election in November 2018, he ran against Steven Palazzo and Lajena Sheets.
On November 11, 2020, Anderson announced he would run for mayor of Moss Point. This election would take place in 2021.
During his first term, Anderson helped create many new laws. These laws were signed by the governor. One law created a group to help stop violence within families. Another law helped disabled veterans by increasing their property tax breaks. It also extended these tax breaks to their spouses after they passed away. He also worked on a law that made insurance companies share information with the Department of Insurance. In 2017, Anderson also helped review the state's budget for education.

In the special election for the House seat, Jeramey Anderson won against Aneice Liddell. He received 59% of the votes, while Liddell received 41%.

In November 2017, Anderson announced he would seek the Democratic nomination for Congress. He wanted to represent Mississippi's 4th Congressional District in 2018.
2018 U.S. House Election Campaign
In June 2018, Jeramey Anderson won the Democratic primary election. He ran for Mississippi's 4th congressional district without anyone running against him.
In the general election on November 6, 2018, Anderson came in second place. Steven Palazzo won with 152,633 votes (68.2%). Anderson received 68,787 votes (30.7%). Lajena Sheets of the Reform Party received 2,312 votes (1.0%).
