Early Life and Education
Jerome A. Prince was born on August 16, 1964. He grew up in Gary, Indiana. He went to Lew Wallace High School and graduated from there.
Public Service Career
In 1982, Jerome Prince joined the United States Marine Corps. This is a branch of the U.S. military. After serving, he returned to Gary in 1986. He then worked in sales.
In 1994, Prince started working for the government. He joined the Calumet Township Assessor's office. An assessor helps decide the value of property for taxes.
Serving on the City Council
In 1999, Prince was elected to the Gary City Council. The City Council helps make decisions for the city. He represented the fifth district of Gary.
Lake County Assessor
Later, in 2008, Prince became a member of the Lake County Council. This council makes decisions for the whole county. In 2014, he was elected as the Lake County Assessor. He held this important job until 2019.
