Jerzy Nowak (born June 20, 1923 – died March 26, 2013) was a talented Polish actor and teacher. He was well-known for his work in both films and theatre.

Life and Career
Early Life and War Service
During World War II, Jerzy Nowak was a brave fighter. He joined the Polish partisans, who were groups of people fighting against the enemy forces. After the war, he decided to pursue his passion for acting. In 1948, he finished his studies at the Ludwik Solski Academy for the Dramatic Arts in Kraków.
Acting on Stage
From 1994 onwards, Jerzy Nowak became very famous for playing a special character. He continuously played Singer Hirsch, a historic figure in Polish theatre. This role was very important to him and to the audience.
Acting in Movies
In movies, Jerzy Nowak often played supporting roles. This means he played important characters, but not always the main hero. He was often cast as a Jewish character, especially in films set during World War II.
One of his most famous roles was in Schindler's List, a movie directed by Steven Spielberg. He also appeared in Three Colors: White as a farmer. Another notable role was as the creative character Zucker in The Promised Land, directed by Andrzej Wajda.
His Book
In 2009, Jerzy Nowak shared his life story in a book. It was called Book of Love and he wrote it with his wife, Maria Andruszkiewicz-Nowak. The book was very popular and even won an award in 2010 called the Kraków Book of the Month prize.
