Jesús Ferrero is a Spanish writer who was born in 1952 in the province of Zamora, Spain.
After finishing high school, he studied literature in the city of Zaragoza. He then moved to Paris, France, to study ancient Greek history at a famous school called the École des hautes études en sciences sociales.
Ferrero is part of a group of modern Spanish writers who became popular after a cultural movement in Spain known as La Movida Madrileña. He has written many novels, poems, short stories, and essays. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the movie Matador with the famous director Pedro Almodóvar.
Many of his stories explore important times in Spanish history, like the Spanish Civil War and the time of the Francoist State. Other well-known writers who write about these topics include Julio Llamazares and Javier Cercas.

Early Success
Ferrero's first novel, Bélver Yin (1981), was a huge success. The story is set in China and was highly praised by critics. This book helped him become known as a major writer in Spain.
Throughout the 1980s, he wrote novels set in different places around the world. For example, Lady Pepa (1988) is set in Barcelona, and Débora Blenn (1988) takes place in Berlin. His books from this time are known for mixing many different ideas and stories.
