Jesse Ross's Boxing Journey
Jesse Ross has competed in different weight categories during his boxing career. Sometimes he fought as a welterweight, and other times as a middleweight.
Early Achievements
In 2008, Jesse won a bronze medal at the Youth Commonwealth Games. This big event took place in Pune, India. At that time, he was competing in the welterweight division.
Moving Up in Weight
After 2008, Jesse decided to move up to the middleweight category in 2009. He then went back to welterweight in 2010. In 2011, he was part of the Australian team that traveled to Europe for competitions.
However, he found that staying in the welterweight division was very hard for him. Jesse is 188 centimeters (about 6 feet 2 inches) tall. He explained that keeping his weight below 69 kilograms (about 152 pounds) made him feel too tired to fight his best. So, he decided to move back to the middleweight division. He called this decision a "no-brainer," meaning it was an easy choice.
Olympic Dream
After moving back to middleweight, Jesse Ross achieved great success. He won both the Australian and Oceanian titles in his new weight class. These wins helped him earn a spot to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
At the 2012 Olympics, Jesse faced Abdelmalek Rahou in his first fight. Unfortunately, he lost this match.
