Jesseca Liu (born Lao Chew Yen on February 13, 1979) is an actress from Malaysia. She works mostly in Singapore. She is an artist with MediaCorp and is managed by HIM International Music.

Early Life of Jesseca Liu

Jesseca Liu was born in Langkawi, Malaysia, on February 13, 1979. Her birth name is Lao Chew Yen. After finishing school at Saito Academy in 2001, she started modeling. She speaks several languages, including Cantonese, Hokkien, Mandarin, English, and Malay. In 2001, she came in second place in a beauty contest in Malaysia. Jesseca then began acting in Chinese TV shows in Malaysia. These shows were made by companies based in Singapore.

Jesseca Liu's Acting Career

In 2004, a producer from MediaCorp noticed Jesseca. They offered her an important role in a sports drama called The Champion. She starred alongside Qi Yuwu and Taiwanese actors Toro and Yan Xing Shu. After this, she became a full-time actress in Singapore.

Early Roles and Awards

In 2005, Jesseca got a role in a long TV series with 100 episodes called Portrait of Home. She played Ruan Mianmian, a bride from Vietnam. She acted with famous actors like Adrian Pang and Louise Lee. For her role in Portrait of Home, she was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress" at the Star Awards 2005. She also won the "Most Popular Newcomer Award" that year.

Her first main role was Ding Yirou in Rhapsody in Blue in 2006. After this, she often got to play the main characters in shows. In December 2007, Jesseca released a book called Jesseca's Diary (Chinese: 绚日记).

New Productions and Changes

In March 2011, she starred in a big show for Channel U called Secrets For Sale. She acted with Christopher Lee and Lin Meijiao. Jesseca played Jiaqi, a private investigator. This show had 13 episodes and was made by Wawa productions.

Later in 2011, she played a doctor named Yang Minfei in a medical show called The Oath. This show was one of the most-watched series that year. She continued to act in other Wawa productions, like Game Plan and Disclosed. She also helped write two episodes of a show called Let It Go.

Moving Between Companies

Jesseca's contract with MediaCorp ended in May 2010. She then signed a contract with HIM International Music (Singapore) in the same year. At the same time, she also helped manage her family's spa business. Her first project with her new company was a Channel U movie called Lost and Found, or 小孩·狗, in 2010. She worked with a popular child star from Taiwan, Xiao Xiao Bin, and Taiwanese idol James Wen Sheng Hao. This movie was watched by more people than two other movies that starred Mediacorp actresses Joanne Peh and Felicia Chin.

She then filmed another big drama for Mediacorp Channel U in 2011, Secrets For Sale (《拍·卖》). She was the main actress alongside Mediacorp actors Christopher Lee and Thomas Ong. Jesseca also sang the theme song for "The Silver Tribute Charity Night" with Olivia Ong. This was her first live TV appearance since the Star Awards 2010.

Returning to MediaCorp

In 2015, Jesseca signed a new acting contract with Mediacorp. She then starred in a new Wawa production called The Queen.

In 2017, she was in a drama called Hero. She played a main female role and had many short appearances in the show. This helped her get nominated for "Best Actress" at the Star Awards. She also made a short appearance as a doctor in a drama called Eat Already? 2.

In 2018, she filmed two dramas. One was Mind Matters with Qi Yuwu, and the other was Babies On Board with Tay Ping Hui. In recent years, she has acted in several dramas. These include Soul Detective, Crouching Tiger Hidden Ghost (where she acted with her husband, Jeremy Chan), The Takedown, and Loving You.
