Early Life of Jesseca Liu
Jesseca Liu was born in Langkawi, Malaysia, on February 13, 1979. Her birth name is Lao Chew Yen. After finishing school at Saito Academy in 2001, she started modeling. She speaks several languages, including Cantonese, Hokkien, Mandarin, English, and Malay. In 2001, she came in second place in a beauty contest in Malaysia. Jesseca then began acting in Chinese TV shows in Malaysia. These shows were made by companies based in Singapore.
Jesseca Liu's Acting Career
In 2004, a producer from MediaCorp noticed Jesseca. They offered her an important role in a sports drama called The Champion. She starred alongside Qi Yuwu and Taiwanese actors Toro and Yan Xing Shu. After this, she became a full-time actress in Singapore.
Early Roles and Awards
In 2005, Jesseca got a role in a long TV series with 100 episodes called Portrait of Home. She played Ruan Mianmian, a bride from Vietnam. She acted with famous actors like Adrian Pang and Louise Lee. For her role in Portrait of Home, she was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress" at the Star Awards 2005. She also won the "Most Popular Newcomer Award" that year.
Her first main role was Ding Yirou in Rhapsody in Blue in 2006. After this, she often got to play the main characters in shows. In December 2007, Jesseca released a book called Jesseca's Diary (Chinese: 绚日记).
New Productions and Changes
In March 2011, she starred in a big show for Channel U called Secrets For Sale. She acted with Christopher Lee and Lin Meijiao. Jesseca played Jiaqi, a private investigator. This show had 13 episodes and was made by Wawa productions.
