She is interested in many different areas of computer science, like keeping information secret and safe online, and how people use computers.

Her Education and Career Journey

Jessica Staddon studied mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. She earned her Ph.D. (which is a very high university degree) in 1997. Her special project for her Ph.D. was about how to send secret messages to many people at once, making sure they stay private and can be tracked.

After finishing her studies, Jessica worked at several important technology companies. She started at RSA Security from 1997 to 1999, which is known for its work in computer security. Then she moved to Bell Labs (1999–2001) and PARC (2001–2010), both famous research centers where many new ideas in technology are developed.

In 2010, she began working at Google, one of the biggest technology companies in the world. For a short time in 2015, she also taught as a professor at North Carolina State University, but she later returned to her work at Google.
