Jessica Stenson (born 15 August 1987), whose maiden name was Trengove, is an amazing Australian athlete. She won the gold medal in the marathon at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Jessica is a long-distance runner, meaning she runs very far! She competes in races from 5000 metres all the way up to the full marathon. She proudly represented Australia at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics in the marathon event.

About Jessica Stenson
Jessica Stenson, often called "Jess," was born on August 15, 1987. Her hometown is Naracoorte, South Australia. She went to Naracoorte Primary School and Naracoorte High School. Later, she moved to Adelaide for boarding school at Annesley College.
Jessica studied at the University of South Australia. From 2006 to 2009, she earned a degree in Physiotherapy. This means she learned how to help people recover from injuries. Today, she works as a physiotherapist and also teaches pilates.
Sports have always been a big part of Jessica's life. She wrestled from age nine to twenty-one. She also played netball and basketball. Her brother, Jack Trengove, was a professional football player. He helped make sports a fun competition in their family!
Jessica also helps important causes. She is an ambassador for The Little Heroes Foundation, the Jodi Lee Foundation, and Bupa. She is 166 cm (about 5 feet 5 inches) tall and weighs 52 kg (about 115 pounds).
Jessica's Running Career
Jessica's journey in running began when she was in primary school. She ran in local cross country races. In 2000, she was chosen for the South Australia state cross country team.
Since 2008, her coach has been Adam Didyk. Before that, Roger Pedrick coached her.
In 2010, Jessica won the City to Bay Run. That same year, she competed in the World Half Marathon Championships in China. She ran her very first marathon in March 2012. She ran so well that she qualified for the Olympics!
For the 2012 Olympics, Jessica trained very hard. She would run up to 160 km (about 100 miles) each week. Even on her easier training days, she ran 12 km (about 7.5 miles).
Olympic and Commonwealth Games Success
Jessica was chosen to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She finished the Olympic marathon in 39th place. Her time was 2 hours, 31 minutes, and 17 seconds.
At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, she won a bronze medal. This was a fantastic achievement! She ran her fastest time yet, 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 12 seconds.
She competed again at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. She finished 22nd in the marathon. In 2017, she placed ninth at the World Championships. This was the best result for an Australian woman in a World Championship marathon!
Her biggest win came at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Jessica won the gold medal in the marathon! This was a truly special moment in her career.
