Jessy Kimbangi, known by his stage name Jessy Matador, is a French singer and dancer. He is famous for his energetic music, which mixes African and Caribbean styles. He even represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest!
About Jessy Matador
Jessy Matador began his career as a dancer in 2001. He joined a group called Les Cœurs Brisés (The Broken Hearts). With this group, he traveled and performed in many countries. They visited places like the United States, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the United Kingdom.
In 2005, Jessy decided to create his own music group. He named it La Sélésao. The group included members Dr. Love, Linho, and Benkoff. They signed with Oyas Records in 2007. Then, in 2008, they signed with Wagram Records.
Their first song, "Décalé Gwada", came out in June 2008. It was a big hit that summer! In November 2008, the group released their first album, Afrikan New Style. This album mixed African and Caribbean music with more modern sounds. It included styles like zouk, dancehall, reggae, and hip hop. In December 2008, they released their second song, "Mini Kawoulé".
Eurovision Song Contest
On February 19, 2010, it was announced that Jessy Matador would represent France. He competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. This big music competition was held in Oslo, Norway, on May 29, 2010.
Jessy Matador performed the song "Allez Ola Olé". He finished in 12th place in the final. This was one of France's best results in the 2000s.
