How the Contest Works
The Eurovision Song Contest has a few stages. First, there are two Semi-finals. Countries that don't automatically qualify for the Grand Final have to compete in these. The top countries from each Semi-final then join the "Big Five" (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom) and the host country in the Grand Final.
Semi-final 1 Highlights
The first Semi-final took place on May 25, 2010. Nineteen countries competed, but only ten could move on to the Grand Final. Some of the countries that made it through were Moldova with "Run Away" by SunStroke Project & Olia Tira, Russia with "Lost And Forgotten" by Peter Nalitch, and Serbia with "Ovo Je Balkan" by Milan Stanković. Belgium also qualified with Tom Dice singing "Me And My Guitar."
