Milan Stanković (Serbian Cyrillic: Милан Станковић; born on September 9, 1987) is a singer and songwriter from Serbia. He became well-known after being a finalist on the TV show Zvezde Granda in 2007.

Milan gained even more fame when he represented Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. This big music competition took place in Oslo, Norway. He sang the song "Ovo je Balkan" and finished in 13th place. Besides his singing career, he was also a judge on Pinkove Zvezdice, a singing competition for children, from 2014 to 2018.

Early Life

Milan Stanković was born on September 9, 1987, in Obrenovac, which was then part of SFR Yugoslavia. He was raised by his single mother. Milan also has a sister from his mother's second marriage. He completed his studies at a secondary medical school.

Career

Becoming a Star and Eurovision

Milan Stanković first became famous as a contestant on the third season of the singing competition Zvezde Granda in 2007. He finished in 4th place on the show. People noticed him because he often sang songs by Zdravko Čolić. He also got a lot of attention for his unique look, which was influenced by k-pop style.

Two years after the competition, Milan released his first album, Solo. It was released by Grand Production and sold 50,000 copies.

On March 13, 2010, Milan took part in a special competition in Serbia. This competition was organized by Radio Television of Serbia to choose who would represent Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. Milan competed against singers Emina Jahović and Olivera Katić. He won the competition with 45% of the public votes. His winning song was "Ovo je Balkan," written by Goran Bregović, Marina Tucaković, and Ljiljana Jorgovanović.

At the Eurovision semi-final on May 25, Milan performed his song and qualified for the final. In the grand final on May 27, he finished in 13th place with 72 points.

New Music and Collaborations

After Eurovision, Milan had some disagreements with his record label, Grand Production. This, along with his breakup with fellow singer Rada Manojlović, led him to take a short break from performing.

In September 2013, Milan released a new song called "Od mene se odvikavaj." The next year, he participated in the Pink Music Festival 2014 with his song "Luda ženo." He won three awards at this festival. In September 2014, he also became a judge on the children's singing competition Pinkove Zvezdice. He appeared on the show for four seasons.

On March 3, 2015, Milan announced his second album by releasing two new songs: "Mašina" and "Nisi mu ti žena." In July, he worked with Serbian rapper Mimi Mercedez and turbo-folk singer Mile Kitić on a song called "Gadure." In September, he released his own EP (a mini-album) titled Milan. It included his recent singles and three new songs.

In February 2017, Milan released the popular song "Ego." This song featured the Bosnian hip hop duo Jala Brat and Buba Corelli. As of May 2022, the music video for "Ego" had over eighty million views on YouTube. This made it his most popular song on the platform.

Between 2018 and 2019, Milan released three more songs: "Trans," "Kripton" (both in 2018), and "Brane mi te" (2019). These songs were part of what he called his "Tokyo trilogy." Milan worked with Jala Brat and Buba Corelli again on the song "Pablo," which came out in July 2020.

Personal Life

Milan Stanković was in a relationship with Rada Manojlović, who was also a contestant on Zvezde Granda. Their relationship lasted between 2008 and 2012.
