Jewel Brown (born August 30, 1937 – died June 2024) was an amazing American singer. She was famous for her jazz and blues music. Jewel sang with many legendary musicians, including Dizzy Gillespie and Louis Armstrong. Her talent was recognized when she joined the Blues Smithsonian Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2013, she was even nominated for a special award, the Koko Taylor Award, for her traditional blues singing. Jewel Brown passed away in June 2024 at 86 years old.

Jewel Brown's Early Life
Jewel Brown was born in Houston, Texas. Her family lived in a part of Houston called Third Ward, Houston. She went to Blackshear Elementary School there.
Starting Her Singing Career
Jewel Brown started singing when she was very young. She performed at the Manhattan Club in Galveston. She sang with musicians like Elmore Nixon and Henry Hayes. Jewel also performed at another place called Club Ebony. When she was just 9 years old, she won a talent show. This show took place at the Masonic Temple in Fourth Ward, Houston.
As a teenager, Jewel kept performing in clubs. She sang all around Houston and Galveston. In the 1960s, she joined the famous band of Louis Armstrong.
