Jewell Jones is an American politician from the state of Michigan. He was born on April 11, 1995. Jones served on the city council for Inkster, Michigan. He was also elected to represent the 11th district in the Michigan House of Representatives. He became the youngest representative in Michigan's history. Jones is a member of the Democratic Party.

Early Life and Education
Growing Up in Inkster
Jewell Jones grew up in Inkster, Michigan. His parents encouraged him to be active in his church. He also started volunteering from a young age. He became a deacon in his family's church.
School and College Years
Jones graduated from John Glenn High School in Westland, Michigan, in 2013. After high school, he attended the University of Michigan–Dearborn. There, he studied both business and political science. He also joined the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps, known as ROTC.
First Steps in Politics
While still in school, Jones became interested in politics. He worked on political campaigns in 2014. He helped with the campaign for David Knezek, who ran for the Michigan State Senate. He also worked for Hilliard Hampton, who was running for mayor of Inkster, Michigan. In 2015, when he was 20 years old, Jones was elected to the Inkster City Council. This made him the youngest person ever to serve on the city council. In 2016, he also helped with the presidential campaign for Hillary Clinton.
Political Career
Serving on the Inkster City Council
Jewell Jones made history when he was elected to the Inkster City Council at age 20. He was the youngest person to ever hold this position. As a city councilman, Jones focused on improving the education system in Inkster. He worked to make schools better for students in his city.
Becoming a State Representative
In 2016, a position opened in the Michigan House of Representatives. The representative for the 11th district, Julie Plawecki, had passed away. Her daughter, Lauren Plawecki, won a special election to finish her mother's term.
Later that year, local party leaders chose Jewell Jones to be the Democratic Party's candidate for the 11th district in the general election. Jones won the election with 66% of the votes. He ran against Robert Pope, the candidate from the Republican Party. This victory made Jewell Jones the youngest State Representative in Michigan's history. He served in this role until January 2023.
