Jewett, Missouri facts for kids
Jewett is a small, quiet community located in the southwestern part of Madison County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's not a big city, but a place where people live without a formal local government.
You can find Jewett along Missouri Route C, a local road. It's also very close to Leatherwood Creek and just two miles west of the bigger St. Francis River.
A Look Back: Jewett's History
Jewett once had its own post office! This post office opened in 1872. It helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years. However, it closed down in 1948.
It's a bit of a mystery why the community was named Jewett. No one knows for sure who Jewett was or why the name was chosen.
