Jim Blanks was an American basketball player. He was born on August 13, 1952. Jim played college basketball for two different teams. He was known for being a great scorer and rebounder.

Jim's College Basketball Journey

Jim Blanks started his college basketball career at Moberly Area Community College. He played there for one season. After that, he moved to Gardner–Webb University. He played for the Gardner–Webb Runnin' Bulldogs for three more seasons.

Becoming an All-American

During his final year at Gardner–Webb, in the 1974–75 season, Jim was amazing. He was chosen as an NAIA All-American. This means he was one of the best college players in the country. He also ranks among the top 10 players in Gardner–Webb history for total points scored and rebounds.

The NBA Draft

After his successful college career, Jim Blanks hoped to play professional basketball. The National Basketball Association (NBA) holds a special event called the NBA draft. Teams pick new players from colleges and other leagues.

Drafted by the Houston Rockets
