João Justino Amaral dos Santos (born December 25, 1954 – died May 31, 2024), known simply as Amaral, was a famous Brazilian footballer. He played as a defender, which means his main job was to stop the other team from scoring goals.

Amaral played for several big football clubs during his career. He started with Guarani from 1971 to 1978. Then, he moved to Corinthians (1978–1981) and Santos (1981–1982). He also played in Mexico for Leones Negros de la Universidad de Guadalajara (1981–1985) before finishing his career with Blumenau in 1987.

He was a very successful player. Amaral won the Campeonato Paulista (a big state championship in Brazil) in 1979 with Corinthians. He also helped Club América win the Mexican First Division in the 1983–84 season.

Amaral also played for the Brazil national team. He played 41 games for his country between 1975 and 1980. He was part of the team that won the Bicentennial Tournament in 1976. He also played in seven games at the 1978 FIFA World Cup, where Brazil finished in third place.
