Life and Career

JoNell Kennedy's father, Joe Nathan Kennedy, worked for the government. Her mother, Joan Marie Johnson, was a singer in a famous group from the 1960s called The Dixie Cups.

JoNell started her acting journey in Chicago. She performed in plays at well-known theaters like the Steppenwolf Theatre and The Goodman Theatre. In 1992, she won an award called the Joseph Jefferson Award for her role in a play named Spunk: Three Tales. Over the years, JoNell has acted in many plays, including Intimate Apparel and Marvin's Room. In 2002, she even recorded an album with a soul band called The Soul of John Black.

JoNell Kennedy first appeared on screen in 1992 in the romantic comedy film How U Like Me Now. She later acted in movies like Goodbye Lover (1998), Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005), Guess Who (2005), and Dreamgirls (2006).

On television, JoNell has been a guest star on more than 60 different shows! Some of these include popular series like Living Single, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Seinfeld, Friends, The X Files, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Chicago Fire, and Grey's Anatomy.
