Discovering Angel Falls
The expedition started in a place called San Pedro de las Bocas. From there, they followed the Caroni and Caruao rivers. Their goal was to reach the Auyán-tepui, a huge flat-topped mountain.
During this trip, they found a giant waterfall. Today, this amazing waterfall is known as Angel Falls. It was named after a pilot called Jimmie Angel. However, in the local language, the native people called it Churun Merú.
