Joan O'Hara (born 10 October 1930 – died 23 July 2007) was a very popular Irish actress. She performed in plays, films, and on television. Many people knew her as Eunice Dunstan, a character in the TV show Fair City on RTÉ One.

Joan O'Hara's Acting Career
Joan O'Hara was a member of the famous Abbey Theatre in Dublin. She acted in many plays there, including those by well-known Irish writers like Seán O'Casey and W.B. Yeats.
On the Big Screen
She also appeared in several movies. One of her roles was in the 1988 film The Dawning. She also acted in Far and Away, which starred Ron Howard, and Da. Her last film was How About You, where she worked with Vanessa Redgrave.

Joan O'Hara was best known for her role in the Irish TV soap opera Fair City. She joined the show in 1994 and played the character Eunice Dunstan. She continued in this role until she passed away in 2007. Because of her talent and long career, she was seen as one of Ireland's best actresses of her time.

Joan O'Hara was born in Sligo in Ireland. Her father was an engineer. Her sister, Mary O'Hara, is a singer and harp player. Joan went to a convent school, where she became friends with another actress, Pauline Flanagan.
Joan lived most of her life in Dublin with her husband, Francis J. Barry. He was a poet and an architect. They had four children together. One of their children, Sebastian Barry, became a famous author and playwright.
Joan O'Hara was also known for being a year-round sea-swimmer!

Joan O'Hara died in Dublin on 23 July 2007, at the age of 76. Her death was announced on the news the next day.
