Joanna Atkins, born on January 31, 1989, is a talented American sprinter. She is known for her speed in the 400 meter dash and holds an American record in this event. Joanna went to Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

College Track Star

Joanna Atkins ran track for the Auburn Tigers team while attending Auburn University. Her coach there was Henry Rolle. In 2009, she achieved great success. Joanna won first place in the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Women's Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She also became the champion of the Southeastern Conference in the same event that year.

International Competitions

Joanna Atkins has represented the United States in many important international track and field events.

World Championships

At the 2013 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Joanna finished in fourth place. This strong finish earned her a spot on the American team for the 4 × 400 meter relay at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. She helped her team win a gold medal in the 4 × 400 meter relay at this event in Moscow.

Joanna continued her success at the IAAF World Indoor Championships. She won another gold medal in the 4 × 400 meter relay at the 2014 championships in Sopot. She also earned a gold medal in the same event at the 2018 championships in Birmingham.

World Relay Championships

Joanna Atkins has also competed in the IAAF World Relays. In 2014, she won a gold medal in the 4 × 400 meter relay in Nassau. She added another gold medal to her collection in 2019. This time, it was in the mixed 4 × 400 meter relay at the championships in Yokohama.
