About Joanne Horniman
Joanne Horniman grew up in a place called Murwillumbah in country New South Wales, Australia. She started writing stories when she was about six years old and has kept writing ever since! As she grew up, she became very interested in how societies work and how people live together. She studied at university in Sydney.
Joanne has worked as an editor and a teacher at colleges and universities. Now, she is a full-time author. She lives in Lismore in northern New South Wales.
Her book Loving Athena (published in 1997) was recognized as a Notable Book in the Australian Children's Book Council Awards in 1998. Another one of her novels, Mahalia (published in 2001), won an Honour Book title in the same awards in 2002. After writing many books for teenagers and young adults, she wrote her first book for adults, A Charm of Powerful Trouble, in 2002.
