Joanne Missingham (Chinese: 黑嘉嘉; Wade–Giles: hei chia chia), born on May 26, 1994, is a talented professional Go player and actor. She was born in Australia but is also Taiwanese. Joanne made history as the first player born in Australia to become a professional Go player.

In 2010, she achieved second place in a big competition called the Qionglongshan Bingsheng Cup. She also won the 1st Taiwan Wei-ch'i Association Women's Professionals Representative Right Ranking tournament. By 2016, Joanne had reached the high Go rank of 7 dan. This made her the highest-ranked female Go player in Taiwan at that time.

Joanne's Early Life and Go Journey

Joanne Missingham was born in Brisbane, Australia, in 1994. When she was four years old, her family moved to Taiwan. Her father is Australian, and her mother, Hei Nanping, was Taiwanese. Sadly, her mother passed away in 2014.

Joanne started learning Go from a professional player named Zhou Keping. In 2005, she moved to San Diego with her family. By 2010, she became a 1 dan professional player with the Taiwan Chi Yuan. In the same year, she quickly moved up to 2 dan after getting second place in the Bingsheng Cup. Joanne plays Go professionally using her mother's family name and her Chinese given name, Hei Jiajia.

Standing Up for Fairness

Joanne Missingham became well-known in 2011 for standing up for what was right. She and other female players decided not to play in the Qiandeng Cup. They found out that male players were paid for each game, but female players were not paid at all.

Later, in another tournament, Joanne held up a fan with Chinese words on it. The words meant "protest gender discrimination." This showed her strong belief in fairness and equal treatment for everyone.

Acting and Other Talents

In 2016, Joanne signed a special agreement with a Taiwanese music company called Seed Music (種子音樂). This deal allowed her to appear in commercials and TV shows.
