As a member of the UCD, Joaquín Muñoz ran for election. In the 1977 General Election, people in Valencia Province chose him. He became a member of the Spanish Congress of Deputies. He said that he "owed everything" to Muñoz, showing how important Muñoz was to his own career. Today, a street in the town of Foios is named after Joaquín Muñoz to honor him.
