Eduardo Zaplana (born 3 April 1956) is a Spanish politician. He held important roles in the Spanish government. From 2002 to 2004, he was the Minister of Labor and Social Issues. Before that, he served as the President of the Valencian Government from 1995 to 2002. He was also a main spokesperson for the People's Party (PP) in the Spanish Congress from 2004 to 2008.

Eduardo Zaplana's Life and Career
Eduardo Zaplana studied to become a lawyer at the University of Alicante. His journey in politics began early.
Early Political Steps
Zaplana first joined a political group called the Union of the Democratic Centre (UCD), which no longer exists. Later, he became a member of the People's Party (PP).
Serving as Mayor and Regional President
From 1991 to 1994, Zaplana was the mayor of Benidorm, a city in Spain. He also worked as a deputy in the Valencian Regional Parliament. In 1995, he became the president of the Valencian Community, a region in Spain. He held this important position until July 24, 2002.
National Government Roles
After leading the Valencian Community, Eduardo Zaplana moved to a national role. He was appointed the Minister of Employment and Social Security. He served in this position until the general election in 2004.
Working in the Spanish Parliament
From 2002 to 2004, Zaplana was a senator. In 2004, he was elected to the Spanish Congress, representing the Valencia area. In Congress, he became the main spokesperson for the People's Party.
In 2008, he changed the area he represented, moving to Madrid. After his party lost the election in March 2008, he decided to step down as the party's spokesperson. He later resigned from Congress completely in April 2008. He then took on a new role as a European delegate for a company called Telefónica.
