Joaquín Riquelme García was born in Murcia, Spain, in 1983. He started learning music in his hometown of Murcia. Later, he moved to Madrid to study at the Madrid Royal Conservatory. He also studied in Berlin at the Berlin University of the Arts. There, he learned from a great teacher named Hartmut Rohde.

Joaquín has won several important awards for his music. He received prizes at the International Festival of Youth Orchestras in Murcia. He also won the Tomás Lestán Viola Competition and the Seventh Concurso Villa de Llanes. He was also given the Carl Flesch Academy Prize.
