Joe Daniels' Music Career

Starting Local H

In 1987, Joe Daniels and his friends Scott Lucas and Matthew "Matt" Garcia began playing music together. They were in high school in Zion, Illinois. In 1990, they officially formed the band Local H.

In 1993, Matt Garcia left the band. Joe Daniels and Scott Lucas decided to continue as a duo. To make their sound complete, Scott Lucas had a friend change his guitar. They added a special part called a bass pickup to it. This made the guitar sound like both a guitar and a bass.

Leaving and Returning to Local H

Joe Daniels decided to leave Local H in 1999. His final concert with the band was on June 24, 1999. This show took place at The Metro in Chicago.

After leaving Local H, Daniels joined another band called Stendec in 1999. That band broke up in 2001. From 2001 to 2004, Daniels was a founding member of The Black Panels. He then worked with the band Bruiser from 2005 to 2007. He recorded an album with them.

In April 2016, Joe Daniels rejoined Local H for a special tour. They celebrated the 20th anniversary of their album As Good as Dead.

Joe Daniels got married in 2006. He and his wife had a son the next year. After their son was born, Daniels and his wife opened a small shop. It was a boutique in a suburb of Chicago. In 2009, they also started their own line of T-shirts for children.
