Early Life and Training
Joey Ansah grew up in Hackney, London, England. His father, Kofi Ansah, was a famous fashion designer from Ghana. His mother, Nicola, was from Devon, England.
When Joey was 10 to 15 years old, he lived in Ghana. During this time, he trained in Tae Kwon Do for four years. This is a type of martial art. After returning to England, Joey started trying out for stunt roles in movies. He was inspired by Ray Park, who played Darth Maul in a 1999 film.
Acting and Stunt Career
Joey Ansah's first big acting role was in a British movie called Love Struck (2005). He also appeared on British TV shows like Spooks (2005) and Timewatch (2006).
In 2005, Joey had a small part in Batman Begins. He played one of the Shadow Warriors. His most famous role came in 2007 in The Bourne Ultimatum. He played Desh Bouksani, an assassin who chases Jason Bourne. Joey performed all his own stunts in a long fight scene with Matt Damon. Many people thought this was one of the best fight scenes ever filmed. In 2008, he was nominated for an MTV Film Award for "Best Fight."
Joey has also acted in independent martial arts films. These include Left for Dead (2004) and Underground (2007).
Directing and Choreography
Joey Ansah is also a talented director and fight choreographer. He helped write and direct the short film Street Fighter: Legacy in 2010. Joey is a big fan of the Street Fighter video game series. He wanted his film to be very true to the games.
He worked with Christian Howard on Street Fighter: Legacy. They later created the live-action Street Fighter series called Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist. They also developed another season called Street Fighter: World Warrior and Street Fighter: Resurrection.
