Johan Alberto Venegas Ulloa, born on November 27, 1988, is a talented Costa Rican professional footballer. He plays as a winger or forward for the Liga FPD club Guanacasteca. Johan also proudly represents his country on the Costa Rica national team.

Johan Venegas's Club Journey
Johan Venegas began his football career at Santos de Guápiles. He also had a short time playing for Barrio México in 2011.
Playing for Puntarenas
In 2012, Johan joined Puntarenas. He had a fantastic season there, scoring 12 goals in 37 games. This great performance caught the eye of bigger clubs.
Moving to Alajuelense
Because of his success, Johan moved to the top club Alajuelense in 2013. In his first year, he quickly became a regular player, appearing in 34 matches and scoring 4 goals. The next season was even better, as he scored a career-high 13 goals in 38 games.
Playing in Major League Soccer
In July 2015, Johan joined Major League Soccer (MLS) team Montreal Impact in Canada. He had impressed them during the 2014–15 CONCACAF Champions League. While with Montreal, Johan played in 32 league matches and scored two goals. He also played in seven playoff games, scoring one goal.
On December 13, 2016, Johan was traded to Minnesota United FC in exchange for another player, Chris Duvall. After playing the 2017 season with Minnesota, the club announced that Johan would be loaned to the Costa Rican team Deportivo Saprissa for 2018. His contract with Minnesota ended after the 2018 season.
Returning to Alajuelense
On December 26, 2020, it was announced that Johan Venegas was returning to Alajuelense. He played there until 2024 before joining Guanacasteca.
Johan's International Career
Johan Venegas made his first appearance for the Costa Rica national team in September 2014. This was during the opening match of the 2014 Copa Centroamericana against Nicaragua. He scored the third goal in that game.
Scoring for Costa Rica
He scored again in his second game against Panama. This goal was special because it was Costa Rica's 100th goal in all Copa Centroamericana tournaments.

Playing in the World Cup
In May 2018, Johan was chosen to be part of Costa Rica's 23-player team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. This is a huge honor for any footballer.
