John Blundell (born October 9, 1952 – died July 22, 2014) was a smart British thinker. He was an economist who led a group called the Institute of Economic Affairs. This group helps people understand ideas about how money and countries work. John Blundell also helped start many other groups that shared ideas about freedom and markets.

Early Life and Education
John Blundell was born in Congleton, a town in Cheshire, England, on October 9, 1952. He went to school at The King's School, Macclesfield. Later, he studied at the famous London School of Economics.
His Work and Career
From 1977 to 1982, John Blundell worked for the Federation of Small Businesses. He helped them with news, research, and talking to politicians. During this time, he was also a local council member in Lambeth London Borough Council from 1978 to 1982.
From 1982 to 1993, John lived in the United States. There, he led several important organizations:
- He was President of the Institute for Humane Studies from 1988 to 1991. This group helps people learn about a free society.
- He also led the Atlas Economic Research Foundation from 1987 to 1991. This foundation supports groups around the world that promote economic freedom.
- He was President of the Charles G. Koch and Claude R. Lambe Charitable Foundations from 1991 to 1992.
On January 1, 1993, John Blundell became the Director General of the Institute of Economic Affairs in London. This was a very important role.
He also helped start and lead other groups, such as:
- The Institute for Children in Boston, Massachusetts.
- The Institute for Justice in Washington, D.C..
- The Buckeye Institute in Ohio.
