Sir John Clinton, 6th Baron Clinton (born around 1429 – died 1488) was an important English nobleman. He held the title of Baron Clinton. He lived in a time when England was often in conflict, known as the Wars of the Roses.

John Clinton's Life Story

John Clinton was born around the year 1429. His father was John de Clinton, 5th Baron Clinton, who lived from 1410 to 1464. His mother was Joan Ferrers.

When his father passed away in 1464, John Clinton inherited his important family titles. These titles included Baron Clinton and Baron Say. In 1471, the government officially recognized him as the holder of these titles. However, he was never asked to join the Parliament, which is like a country's main law-making group.

John Clinton passed away on February 29, 1488. He was buried in a place called Greyfriars, London.

John Clinton's Family

Sir John Clinton was married two times during his life.

His first wife was Elizabeth Fiennes, Lady Clinton. She was born around 1455. They got married in about 1463 in Herstmonceux, Sussex. Elizabeth was the daughter of Sir Richard Fiennes, 7th Baron Dacre and Joan Dacre, 7th Baroness Dacre.

John and Elizabeth had one son together. Their son was named John Clinton, 7th Baron Clinton. He was born in 1471 in Folkestone, Kent. He later passed away on June 4, 1514.

John Clinton's second wife was Anne Stafford. She was the daughter of Sir Humphrey Stafford.
