Who Was John Dunch?
John Dunch was the second son of Samuel Dunch. His family lived in a place called Pusey, which was in Berkshire (but is now part of Oxfordshire). His mother was Dulcibella, whose father was Sir John Moore from East Ilsley in Berkshire. John Dunch also lived in North Baddesley in Hampshire.

The House of Commons is a very important part of the government in England. Back in John Dunch's time, it was where elected people, called Members of Parliament (MPs), would meet. They would discuss important issues and make decisions for the country. Being an MP meant you helped represent the people and their ideas in government.
John Dunch's Time in Parliament
In 1654, John Dunch was chosen by the people of Berkshire to be their Member of Parliament. This happened during a special time in English history called the Protectorate, and the government was known as the First Protectorate Parliament. He was elected again in 1656 for the Second Protectorate Parliament. He was elected one more time in 1659 for the Third Protectorate Parliament. This shows he was a trusted leader for his area for several years.

John Dunch had an interesting family connection. He was the brother-in-law of the wife of Richard Cromwell. Richard Cromwell was a very important person at that time. He was the Lord Protector of England, Scotland, and Ireland, which was like being the head of the country.
