John Edward "Jack" Cunningham III (born March 27, 1931) is an American politician. He used to represent the state of Washington in the United States House of Representatives. He served from 1977 to 1979. John Cunningham is a member of the Republican Party. He is one of only two Republicans who have represented the 7th district of Washington.

John Cunningham's Early Career

Before serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, John Cunningham was a lawmaker for his home state. He served in the Washington House of Representatives from 1973 to 1975. After that, he was a member of the Washington State Senate from 1975 to 1977. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserve in 1953 and 1954. John Cunningham lived in Des Moines, Washington.

Serving in the U.S. Congress

John Cunningham was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a special election. This election happened because the previous representative, Brock Adams, resigned. Mr. Adams left his position to become the Secretary of Transportation. John Cunningham served in Congress from May 17, 1977, to January 3, 1979. He ran for reelection in 1978 but did not win.
