John Rune "Jompa" Eriksson (born March 12, 1929 – died March 24, 2020) was a talented Swedish football player and manager. He was known for playing as a forward, which means he was usually at the front of the team, trying to score goals. John Eriksson played for several clubs in Sweden and also represented his country on the national team.

Playing for Clubs

John Eriksson started his football journey with Värtans IK. He then moved to Djurgårdens IF, which is one of Sweden's biggest football clubs. He played for Djurgårdens IF from 1951 to 1960. During his time there, he played 120 games and scored 69 goals. This made him a very important player for the team.

Winning Championships

With Djurgårdens IF, John Eriksson helped his team win the Allsvenskan league title twice. The Allsvenskan is the top football league in Sweden. They won in the 1954–55 season and again in 1959. These were big achievements for him and his club. After his successful time at Djurgårdens IF, he also played for Vällingby AIK.

Playing for Sweden

John Eriksson also had the honor of playing for the Swedish national team. He played ten games for Sweden between 1951 and 1955. In these games, he scored an impressive nine goals.
