About John Adair
John Adair was born in Dublin, Ireland, in a place called St Stephen's Green. His dad, also named John Adair, was a lawyer.
His Education
John went to Trinity College Dublin. He was a top student in 1871. In 1873, he earned a degree in mathematics. Later, in 1874, he went to Pembroke College, Cambridge. He got another math degree there in 1878. He was known as a "Wrangler," which means he was one of the best math students.
His Career
After college, John worked as an assistant teacher at Derby School from 1878 to 1879. He then moved to Australia. From 1887 to 1890, he taught physics at the University of Sydney. John Adair passed away in Ballsbridge, Ireland, when he was 61 years old.

John Adair was a very active cricketer. He played for Trinity College, Dublin, from 1870 to 1874.
Playing for Clubs
While teaching at Derby School, he played one cricket match for Derbyshire. He played against their younger team, called the Colts. He also played for a famous cricket club called I Zingari.
University and International Matches
When he was at Cambridge University, he played one match for the university team. He also played one match against the university for a special team called "England XI." This team was led by the famous cricketer WG Grace. In 1883, John Adair even played cricket for the Ireland side.
