John Frederick "Johnny" Gustafson (born August 8, 1942 – died September 12, 2014) was an English musician. He was a talented bass guitar player and singer. Johnny had a long career playing music and recording albums.
He was part of many famous bands. These included The Big Three, The Merseybeats, Quatermass, Roxy Music, The Pirates, and Ian Gillan Band.

About Johnny Gustafson's Music Career
Johnny Gustafson was born in Liverpool, England. His father was from Sweden and his mother was from Ireland. He became well-known for his work with bands in the 1960s. These bands were The Big Three and The Merseybeats.
He also sang on the original recording of Jesus Christ Superstar. He sang the part of Simon Zealotes. Later, he sang on a song called "Watch Out for the Bat." This song was on Roger Glover's album The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast.
Johnny Gustafson was perhaps most famous for playing bass guitar. He played for different versions of the Ian Gillan Band. He was also an important member of the progressive rock band, Quatermass. Progressive rock is a style of music that often has longer songs and complex musical parts. He also helped bring back the band The Pirates. They were originally the backing band for singer Johnny Kidd.
Johnny played bass on three studio albums for the band Roxy Music. He was with them from 1973 to 1975. His last album with Roxy Music was Siren. This album included their only song to reach the top 40 in America, "Love Is the ...".
Johnny Gustafson was married to Anne Gustafson for more than 30 years. He passed away in 2014.
