John Hannah (born 23 April 1962) is a talented actor from Scotland. He is known for his roles in many popular movies and TV shows. You might recognize him from films like Four Weddings and a Funeral and The Mummy series. He also does voice-over work, which means he uses his voice for characters or advertisements.
John Hannah has played many different characters. He was nominated for a BAFTA Award for his role as Matthew in Four Weddings and a Funeral. He also appeared in Sliding Doors and The Hurricane. On TV, he's been in shows like Spartacus, Atlantis, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Early Life and School
John Hannah was born on April 23, 1962, in East Kilbride, Scotland. He is the youngest of three children and has two older sisters. His mother, Susan, worked as a cleaner, and his father, John, was a toolmaker.
He went to Heathery Knowe Primary School and then Claremont High School. After school, he started training to become an electrician. While training, he joined the East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club, where he enjoyed acting. A colleague suggested he try acting school. So, after finishing his electrician training, he went to the famous Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Acting Career
After finishing drama school, John Hannah started acting in plays, movies, and TV shows. One of his first big TV roles was Robert in the show Brond in 1987.
He became famous around the world after playing Matthew in the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994. He then played a detective who solved mysteries in the TV series McCallum.
In 1998, he starred with Gwyneth Paltrow in the romantic comedy Sliding Doors. He also played a funny role as the main character's brother, Jonathan Carnahan, in The Mummy movie series. He appeared in The Mummy Returns (2001) and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008).
From 2010 to 2011, John Hannah played Quintus Lentulus Batiatus in the popular TV series Spartacus. He was the owner of a gladiator training school. He also voiced adverts for The Co-operative Group in Europe.
Later, he played Dr. Holden Radcliffe, a scientist, in the Marvel TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from 2016 to 2017. Since 2019, he has been the narrator for the BBC reality show Race Across the World. In this show, people travel across the world without flying.
He also plays Dr. Jedidiah Bishop in the medical drama Transplant on CTV Canada.
Personal Life
John Hannah married actress Joanna Roth in 1996. They first met years before while acting in a play by Shakespeare called Measure for Measure. John has shared fun stories about their relationship, like how he proposed to Joanna by writing on a tablecloth at a restaurant in London. They live in Richmond, London and have two children.
