John Hawks (born around 1731 – died February 16, 1790) was an important architect who came from England to America. He became a very influential designer in North Carolina for about 20 years. He is known for creating some of the most famous buildings in New Bern, North Carolina. Besides being an architect, he also held an important government job. He was the first auditor of North Carolina, serving from 1784 until he passed away.
