John Kass started his writing career as an intern. He then became a reporter at a newspaper called the Daily Calumet. In 1980, he began working for the Chicago Tribune. He worked there for 38 years, until June 2021.

Family Life
John Kass married Betty Castela in 1986. They got married at a Greek Orthodox Church in Oak Lawn. They have two sons who are twins. Today, John and Betty Kass live in Saint John, Indiana.
