John Frederick Lillicrap (born in 1866, died in 1937) was an important person in the city of Invercargill, New Zealand. He served as the 29th Mayor of Invercargill from 1921 to 1923. Before becoming mayor, he was also a Borough councillor for many years.

John Lillicrap had an interesting life. He was born in Wellington, New Zealand, in 1866. When he was a child, his family moved to Invercargill. His father, Captain Vernon Lillicrap, had an important job. He was in charge of the Immigration Barracks. This was a place where new people arriving in the country would stay.
His Career and Family
John Lillicrap became a lawyer. This means he helped people with legal problems and gave advice about laws. He worked as a lawyer for many years. From 1929 to 1936, he even practiced law in another city called Palmerston North.
In 1899, John Lillicrap married Catherine Anne Wilson. They started a family together. They had one son and one daughter.
Serving Invercargill
John Lillicrap was very involved in his community. He was a Borough councillor for a long time. He served from 1901 to 1906, and then again from 1909 to 1921. A Borough councillor helps make decisions for the local area.
After being a councillor, he became the Mayor of Invercargill. The mayor is like the leader of the city. They help make sure the city runs smoothly and that people have what they need. John Lillicrap was mayor for two years, from 1921 to 1923.
