John Macmillan is a British actor. He is also sometimes called MacMillan. He started his acting career in theatre, which means plays on stage. His Acting Journey

Starting in Theatre

John Macmillan began his acting career on stage. In 2007, he went on an international tour with the play Cymbeline. The next year, he appeared in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot and Piranha Heights. He was nominated for an Ian Charleson Award in 2009 for his performances in Hamlet and Macbeth.

Moving to TV and Film

In 2009, John made his first appearances on screen. He had small roles in the horror film Heartless and the TV crime drama Hustle. In 2011, he was in the short film Friend Request Pending and the action movie Hanna. That same year, he started playing Joe Bright in the BBC One drama Silk.

Big Roles and Recognition

In 2015, John played staff nurse Joe Costello in the medical drama Critical. He also started playing Ronald, Tracey's boyfriend, in the Netflix comedy Chewing Gum. He played Victor in the play Yerma in 2016 and 2017, and the cast won an Obie Award for their work.

In 2017, he starred in the one-man play Killer. He also played Troye King Jones in the mockumentary film Carnage and began playing Julian in the Channel 4 comedy Back. For his role as Edmund in the 2018 TV film King Lear, John was nominated for a Satellite Award. Also in 2018, he played Abs Walter in the Channel 4 comedy Hang Ups.

More recently, John Macmillan played Laenor Velaryon in the first season of the HBO fantasy series House of the Dragon. This show is a prequel to Game of Thrones.
