John Nicholson is a talented Australian author and illustrator who writes many books, especially for children. He was born in Singapore and later moved to Australia.

Before becoming a full-time writer in 1990, John had several interesting jobs. He worked as an architect, designing buildings, and also as a graphic designer and illustrator, creating pictures and designs.

John lives in the beautiful Victorian bush in Australia with his wife, Jenny, and their daughter, Freda. They live in a special house that runs on solar power, which they built themselves!

John's books have won some really important awards. He has won the Children's Book Council of Australia Eve Pownall Award three times! This award celebrates excellent information books for young people. He has also been a finalist (shortlisted) for this award six times. Plus, his books have been recognized by the WA Premier's Children's Book Award and the Australian Awards for Excellence in Educational Publishing.
