John Ros, 7th Baron Ros of Helmsley (born around 1397 – died March 22, 1421) was an English nobleman. He was the oldest son of William Ros, 6th Baron Ros, and Margaret Fitzalan. His mother was the daughter of John FitzAlan, 1st Baron Arundel. John Ros was a soldier who fought for Henry V of England during a long conflict known as the Hundred Years' War.

A Brave Soldier in the Hundred Years' War

John Ros served as a brave soldier for King Henry V of England. He fought during the Hundred Years' War, which was a series of conflicts between England and France. This war lasted for many years. John Ros played his part in these important historical events.

The Battle of Baugé

Six years after the famous Battle of Agincourt, John Ros took part in another battle. This was the Battle of Baugé, which happened in 1421. Sadly, John Ros was among those who died in this battle. His brother, William Ros, also died there. So did Thomas of Lancaster, Duke of Clarence, who was a very important leader. John Ros was buried at a place called Belvoir Priory.

His Family and Marriage

John de Ros married a woman named Margery le Despencer. She was the daughter and only heir of Philip le Despencer, 2nd Baron le Despencer. However, John and Margery did not have any children together.

After John's death, Margery married Roger Wentworth. He was an esquire, which meant he was a gentleman who served a knight. Margery was later fined a large sum of money. This was because she married someone who was not of the same high noble rank as her.
