John Starling (March 26, 1940 – May 2, 2019) was an American Bluegrass musician and composer. He was a founding member of the bluegrass group The Seldom Scene. He also had a medical profession as an otolaryngologist. Starling was born in Durham, North Carolina. He retired in 2007. In 1992, he won a Grammy Award.
On February 12, 2019, Starling was reported to be "seriously ill" and living in hospice care. He died of congestive heart failure on May 2, 2019 at his home in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was 79.
