John Ventimiglia is an American actor. He is known for playing Artie Bucco in the TV show The Sopranos. He also had a regular role as Dino Arbogast. This character was a police chief for the NYPD in the police drama series Blue Bloods.

Early Life and Background
John Ventimiglia was born in Ridgewood, Queens, a part of New York City. His parents were immigrants from Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily. He grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey. John learned to speak Sicilian at home with his family. He still speaks it well today. He finished high school at Teaneck High School in 1981. He also played on the football team there. In the 1980s, he lived in New York City with Michael Imperioli. Michael later played Christopher Moltisanti in The Sopranos.
Acting Career Highlights
John Ventimiglia has acted in many movies. Some of these include Cop Land, Jesus' Son, and Mickey Blue Eyes. He has also appeared in several TV shows. These include Law & Order and NYPD Blue. He even had a small part in the TV movie Gotti.
Special Performances
In 2007, John Ventimiglia joined the David Amram quartet. They performed a special show about writer Jack Kerouac. They continued these shows in Denmark later that year. In 2008, he starred in the comedy movie Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead. He played the character Theo Horace. He also had a small role as a police officer in the movie Notorious. In 2011, he appeared in the film Flypaper.
Later Roles
In 2011, John starred in a small independent film called Ponies. The next year, in 2012, he was a guest star in the CBS series Made in Jersey. Also in 2012, he played General Humberto Delgado in a Portuguese film. This movie was called Operation Autumn. It was about Delgado's assassination in Spain. In 2016, he played Harry Magarac in an episode of Elementary. He also narrated a TV show for Nat Geo. This show was called Inside the American Mob.
Personal Life
John Ventimiglia is married to Belinda. They have a daughter named Lucinda. They also have a granddaughter named Shiloh. His youngest daughter, Odele Cape, passed away in 2023. She had given birth to her daughter, John's first grandchild, two months before. John is a big fan of the New York Mets baseball team.
