John de Hausted facts for kids
John de Hausted (died 1337) was an important English nobleman who lived in the late 1200s and early 1300s. He was a knight who fought in wars against both France and Scotland.
John de Hausted was the second son of Robert de Hausted. In 1307, he received land in a place called Northumberland. Later, in 1317, John joined King Edward II of England on a trip to Scotland. During this time, he was given the job of protecting anyone in Northumberland who agreed to follow the king's rule.
John's Important Roles
In 1323, John de Hausted was in charge of Clare Castle and the area around Clare, Suffolk. After King Edward III became king, John was given a very important job. From 1327 to 1331, he worked as the Seneschal of Gascony. A seneschal was like a governor or a chief officer for a region. Gascony was a part of France that belonged to England at the time.
John de Hausted was also called to join the English parliament. This happened several times between 1332 and 1336. When he attended parliament, he was known as Baron Hausted. He passed away in the year 1337.

John de Hausted was married to a woman named Roese. They had two children:
